What is the Annual Facility of the Year Awards?
- The Facility of the Year Awards are an annual program that recognizes state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing projects that utilize new innovative technologies both to improve the quality of their projects and to reduce the cost of producing high-quality medicines. The Awards program is unique because it provides a platform for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry to showcase its new products and accomplishments in facility design, construction, and operation, while sharing the development of new applications of technology and cutting-edge approaches that are being adopted by the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
Who should submit?
- Firms that have been involved in the design, build, or renovation of a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical or biotechnology facility.
When is the entry submission deadline?
- Entries must be received between 1 April 2009 and 23 November 2009 and must include thirteen (13) hard copies of the submission in bound format accompanied by the appropriate entry fee and entry materials as previously specified
What is the Intent to Submit Form?
- Prospective entrants are requested (but not required) to submit a non-binding indication of intent to submit entry prior to the date shown on the program schedule. This form is available for download and is due no later than 19 October 2009.
How are entries submitted?
- The 2010 Facility of the Year Award Submission Package with entry forms is available for download.
- Materials are to be submitted in hard copy format to Ms. Marni Schribman, Communications Manager, ISPE, 3109 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Suite 250, Tampa, Florida, 33607, USA.
What materials must be included with the entry form?
- All entries are to be submitted in English.
- The following forms must be included and can be found in the 2010 Submission Package: Completed Project Information Forms, Program Entry Form, Submitter’s Information Form, Applicant Release Form, Photography Release Form, and Payment Form with entry fee in the amount of US $600.
- Thirteen (13) bound copies, and one CD (1) with submission in electronic format.
- Required submission information per the “Instructions for Submission” section.
Is there an entry fee for the program?
- The entry fee for the 2010 program is US $600
How should payment be submitted?
- Payment should be submitted to ISPE in US dollars by check (drawn on a US bank), credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Euro Card, American Express), or wire transfer. Can multiple entries be submitted?
- Yes, as long as each entry is for a different project that has completed construction between 1 November 2007 and 30 November 2009.Â
What are the eligibility requirements for submitting an entry?
- The Awards program is open to all GMP manufacturing-based projects where a majority of funding and efforts were devoted to buildings, equipment, systems and manufacturing methodologies deployed to manufacture regulated pharmaceutical drug substances, drug products, medical devices, combination products, and other commercial entities under the purview of the US  Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and other global regulatory bodies. Some projects may have included laboratories, offices, and other non-GMP support facilities as portions of the project. Submittals will be primarily judged on merits of GMP manufacturing scope. Ancillary facilities scope are not within the objectives of the awards program. Although entries can be submitted by a different company on behalf of the manufacturer, a representative of the manufacturer must sign the submission form.
How are entries being judged?
- Entries are judged by a panel of industry experts on the merits of the project that best demonstrate the new use of technology, advanced applications of existing technology, or the provision of elegant solutions to routine issues. They need not be massive or costly, but they must represent the highest quality of design and engineering.
What criteria are considered in evaluating submissions?
- Winning projects must be sites where the occupants work in a safe and productive manufacturing environment, the facility applies new or innovative technological solutions, and where the facility enhances the client’s ability to recruit top talent. Projects submitted will be eligible to win one category, as well as the Overall Facility of the Year Award. While not weighted, each project will be evaluated against the following criteria:
