The Facility of the Year Awards
“The Facility of the Year Awards competition has allowed us to showcase exceptional work that's being done by the engineering community in our industry. Typically, many of these projects would be completed without a forum for people to find out about them. This competition has enabled us to provide a broader forum for individuals to see and understand the innovations taking place in facility design and engineering.”
Peter Bigelow, Senior Vice President, Consumer Healthcare Manufacturing for Wyeth, and Judging Panel Chair for the 2005 and 2006 Facility of the Year Awards.
“Developing and producing therapeutic proteins economically and efficiently requires innovative, state-of-the-art facilities. We believe we have created such a facility, and we're very pleased that the judges for this prestigious award have recognized our accomplishments.”

The Facility of the Year Awards (FOYA) Program
ISPE, INTERPHEX, and Pharmaceutical Processing magazine are looking for projects that demonstrate global leadership by showcasing cutting-edge engineering, innovative new technology, or advanced applications of existing technology.
The FOYA Program is an annual competition that recognizes state-of-the-art projects that utilize new, innovative technologies to improve the quality of products, to reduce the cost of producing high-quality medicines, which demonstrate advances in project delivery.
The FOYA Program is unique because it provides a platform for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry to showcase its accomplishments in facility design, construction, and operation, while sharing the development of new applications of technology and cutting-edge approaches that it is adopting.
However, the FOYA Program is about much more than just the science and technology of the facilities. More importantly, it's about recognizing the shared commitment and dedication of individuals working for different companies worldwide to innovate and advance pharmaceutical manufacturing technology for the benefit of all global consumers.
The sponsors have devised an awards program that maximizes exposure and promotional opportunities for submitting companies and their key suppliers. As well as the prestigious Facility of the Year, awards are given to leaders in the following defined categories (see entry pro-forma for category definitions):
- Process Innovation
- Project Execution
- Equipment/Innovation
- Facility/Integration
- Sustainability
- Operational Excellence
Submitting companies are given the opportunity to choose the category for which they are applying. Up to five Category Winners will be selected based on any of the listed categories and/or other categories at the discretion of the FOYA judging panel.
